What is a picture worth?

Is it a thousand words? I used to think so. It’s a clean, simple answer we’ve all heard a thousand times. But, the more I look through a viewfinder, the more I realize that number doesn't quite capture it. A thousand words can describe a scene—the color of the sky, the look on a person’s face, the action frozen on a field.

But, they can never truly bottle the feeling of a particular moment, a slice of time, a memory.

A picture can.
